Aki Hoshino Koike Eiko Z:In America you can buy a shirt at one Macy's and return it at any other Macy's. Same with a videogame at Gamestop or anything else, really. Good to know I can't do that in other parts of the world =) I liked the interview. Like Peter had said, I too was curious to see what this SMASH fella was like, and probably had a somewhat negative image at first, but after listening to the entire interview, SMASH seems like a pretty good and respectable guy, someone I could see myself hanging out with. (If you're ever down in Miyazaki or southern Kyushu, I'd be more than happy to buy you a beer.) I think the questions were good and some of the points Peter made (like how there could be two audiences for the book which could be explored by having two sites / approaches) was right on the money. Actually, after having read the eBook, it inspired me to try to gather my own data about dating in Japan - a slow going process, but something I'm really interested in. Heh, to clarify I definitely have no relation to SMASH and yes, I did ask for my money back (though without the 50% added). It was partly because I felt like I had deduced the same conclusions as SMASH did and thus didn't learn as much as I could have had I been a complete novice (although that also gave me some reassurance that what intel I had gathered thus far was accurate). The other part was that at the time of my purchase I was feeling rather frustrated with my own lack of success, and since I didn't feel like some of the burning questions I had about Japanese dating had been answered, I wanted reimbursement. After having listened to Peter's perspective on that particular issue, though, I think I agree more with him that in any case it was worth the money. Anyways I guess I'm saying this because I honestly felt bad that I had delivered SMASH a "gut blow" at the end of my review, and didn't mean to come off as cocky or rude. Sorry :(. If anything I do quite care about the subject, enough to have read the eBook and posted comments here. I'd love nothing more than to discuss the subject matter of dating in Japan further with SMASH or Peter or anyone else, as I think it's an interesting social topic that skirts various facets of different societies :) (That said there is a site, JapanLair, that I just stumbled across but have yet to make the time and read. I'm curious SMASH if you're active on that forum.) -Z PS: SMASH, I'll tell ya what - I'd be more than happy to repurchase the eBook's tightened 2010 edition if you wouldn't mind chatting it up about the topic and consider including sections on sticking points that I find other foreigners and myself hitting :) EMAIL REDACTED Z:Ah, and I too love to use dajare / oyaji gyagu! Samui kedo ne... ;) Peter:Z, I took off your email since posting it on a public forum is a great way to get spam. I will forward your comments and email onto SMASH tonight. Z:Ah thanks, good looking out :0 Eric:Mmm, I'd like to represent her special interest group. add comment |
