RSS 2010-03-03KRISPY KREME IN NAGOYA I just found out that Krispy Kreme will be opening it's first store in Nagoya this month. This is exciting for me, not because I'm homesick for sugary American snacks, but because Nagoya often gets passed over by foreign chains like Forever 21 and A&F in favor of "real" cities like Osaka and Tokyo despite our large urban population of ready consumers or by Ikea and Costco in favor of rural locations with more space despite Nagoya's reputation as being the largest podunk city in Japan. I am choosing to interpret the opening of Krispy Kreme to mean that Nagoya is finally becoming a real city (sniff). KRISPY KREME GRAND OPENING Wed., Mar. 17th JR Nagoya Takashimaya Store (the big building attached to Nagoya Station) add comment to post #661 marlow:i thought it was the 16th. in any case get ready to see Fat Marlow in the next couple of months :( Nick:Replace "Nagoya" with "Houston" and I think you just described my home city. Except that we have an Ikea. Peter:Interesting side note, the Ikea warehouse that supplies both Ikea store locations in Osaka and Tokyo is located in Nagoya. Eric:Just saw on the news this morning that people were waiting up to six and a half hours in line for Krispy Kreme on the opening day. 2010-03-03There is a show in Japan simply called Trivia. Viewers send in questions and the show finds out the answer. "Tonda" means "it flew". add comment to post #660 2010-03-01hungry?... not so hungry? add comment to post #659 2010-03-01THIS WEEK IN AND AROUND NAGOYA
